For a little History of Mount Dora you have to go way back to the 1800's and Ms. Dora Ann Drawdy who homesteaded and befriended federal surveyors who in turn in 1846 named Lake Dora after her. Years later the growing town was named after the lake and at 186 feet above sea level, unusual in Florida, the name Mount Dora came about.
Located 20 miles northwest of Orlando with a population as of 2007 at 11,125, this town still keeps its "old time charm." Known for its Annual Festivals like the Village Antique Fair in March or the popular Craft Fair in October, there is always an upcoming event going on for kids and adults alike.
