 Tavares is located in Lake County 45 miles northwest of Orlando, Florida, and is between Lake Dora and Lake Eustis. The name means "Hub" in Spanish and is known for its small town charm, rolling hills and many lakes. Founded in 1882, this quaint town has seen an increase in growth that came with the early 2000 market boom that hit Central Florida. Buyers that could not afford the increase in prices during that time searched the outer regions of Orlando looking for less expensive homes and better deals. Tourists enjoy the historic sites, lakes and parks and popular nature activities include Fiddler's Green Ranch, the Trout Lake Nature Center, the Amazing Exotics Education Center and Uncle Donald's Farm. Population: 9,700 (US Census 2000).

Chelsea Oaks is a newer community in Tavares built in the mid 2000s. You can find a three or four bedroom ranch in the low to mid $200,000's with 1,700 ot 2,000 square feet. All this is close to the Mall, Hospital, Restaurants and the YMCA.
Royal Harbor is another great Gated community backing to Lake Harris and the Chain of Lakes. Rolling hills overlooking the Chain, walking trails, a clubhouse featuring heated pool, tennis courts, library, fitness center, billiard room, crafts room, computer room, and much more. Homes start in the low $200,000's.
Venetian Village is where new meets old. You may find an older remodeled home built in the 1980's or single family ranch just newly constructed in 2005. Nice size lots and many of them backing to canal frontage to Lake Beauclair and Lake Harris Chain. Some canals do not connect to the chain so make sure you do your due diligence.
